M. 'Manchu Fan': Spreading shrub with mid-green leaves, up to 20cm long, which it looses in winter. In late spring it bears large, 12cm goblet-shaped, creamy white flowers which are sweetly fragrant. Fully hardy. 6m H x 5m.

M. 'Iolanthe': Vigorous, upright, leaves up to 25cm long, which it looses in winter. In mid-spring, large, cup-shaped flowers, 25cm across, rose-pink outside, creamy white inside. Fully hardy. 12m H x 8m.

M. 'Yellow Bird': Conical to spreading shrub with mid-green leaves up to 25cm (10") long, which it looses in winter. Cup-shaped, pure yellow flowers up to 12cm across in late spring. Fully hardy. 10m H x 6m.

M. 'Susan': Upright, leaves up to 15cm long, which it looses in winter. Narrowly goblet-shaped, fragrant flowers up to 15cm across mid-spring - purple-red outside, paler inside. Fully hardy. 4m H x 3m.

M. x soulangeana: Spreading, leaves up to 20cm long, which it looses in winter. Large, goblet-shaped flower up to 15cm across, rose pink at base fading to white at the tips from mid-spring. Fully hardy. 6 m H x 6 m.

M. campbellii 'Darjeeling': Conical to spreading shrub with mid-green leaves, up to 25cm long, which it looses in winter. From early spring produces cup-and-saucer-shaped, dark pink flowers. Fully hardy.

M. x loebneri 'Leonard Messel': Upright shrub with mid-green leaves up to 15cm long. In mid-spring produces star-shaped, pale lilac-pink flowers, up to 12cm across. Fully hardy. 8 m H x 6m.
